Description
Welding procedure specification is mandatory for welding fabrication activity as it is the primary reference document for weld joint quality assurance and code compliance. Furthermore, welding procedure qualification is also important for controlling cost of fabrication. Hence, understanding the process and requirements of welding procedure qualification will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of qualification process and subsequently lead to cost benefits to fabrication work. Participants of this programme will gain insight into welding procedure qualification from the experience and strong theoretical background of the trainer. The code rules of ASME Section IX will be used as a basis for code rule explanation and interpretation.
Upon completion of this two-day training programme, participants of this course will gain
insight of the process to qualify and procedure welding procedure qualification that comply with the
project specifications, applicable welding qualification and construction codes. Participants will also
gain understanding of code rules and the applications to avoid misinterpretation that result to
incompliance of welding procedure specifications. Participants will be trained and participated in the
process of producing welding procedure specifications and procedure qualification records as well as
reviewing test reports.
Examples of code rules application will be used to enhance the understanding of the background
rational of code rules to effectively define the requirements of welding procedure qualification tests.
Methods and considerations for ensuring the quality assurance of welding procedure, procedure
qualification test records will also be transferred in this programme for improving participants
efficiencies in verifying quality of welding procedures and procedure qualification records.
